Javier
RFSNW Program gives a child "Smiles" at the Las Vegas Motor Speedway
Las Vegas, NV March 2,2008
On a sunny but windy Sunday, The day began arriving at Javiers house in our stretch limousine (Graciously donated by Las Vegas Limousines for a second year).
Javier, 12 years old with Lymphoma, was in for a full day of fun. RFSNW is making its debut working with LVMS and the Make a Wish Foundation of Southern Nevada.

Once arriving at the speedway, Javier got a tour through the
souvenir trailers, as well as a great tour in the Sprint Cup Trailer. Then made his way to the well known "Neon Garage", To get a close look at cars in the set up process. We made our way to Jeff Gordon's spot in the garage so that Javier could see his favorite drivers car being set up before the tech inspection.
Then making our way to the Media Center we met up with Niki Jones, The public relations manager to receive our Pre-Race credentials. Ron Hayes, President of RFSNW then informed Javier he was going to get to meet the entire crew of Raceway That airs on The Speed Channel. After a short walk in the tunnel which runs under the track itself, we had made it to the Speed Channel Stage.
At the Speed stage we were escorted to the "Green Room" to wait for the Speed crew to arrive. After Javier received the royal treatment since he sat down the moment had arrived, Out of the Speed trailer walked Kenny "Herman" Wallace, Jimmy Spencer and John Roberts.
Even though they were ready to go "On Air" they still made time for pictures and to answer any questions Javier might of had.
After watching the show live for a little while, It was time to make our way back down to the track for the Pre-Race ceremony. With the help from Nancy Padula from Roush-Fenway Racing, Javier was going to get a special meeting with Roush-Fenway driver David Ragan. While Javier spent some time in the driver area, many other drivers made their way see, sign and have a friendly word with Javier.
The shirt Javier was wearing was donated by Stout Creations. At this point it was going to get some unforgettable autographs. Many drivers made time to sign and speak to Javier.
Mark Martin, Clint Bwyer, Dave Blaney, Robby Gordon, Reed Sorenson and always ready to give his all to a child, Javier was given some well wished words from Kyle Petty, who also commented about the positive message RFSNW promotes. Javier then began speaking to Carl Edwards and after an autograph, Carl asked for a picture with Javier, He said "I need some real good luck today".
While making our way back to Pit Road, Javier recognized Dick Berggren from Fox and Speed. He had no problem also signing Javiers shirt and giving him some pointers about broadcasting. After a full day of racing just about to an end, We made our way out to the infield parking lot, Where we met up Sean, our friendly Limo driver.
This day would not of been possible without such generous support from these local organizations and these following people, Las Vegas Motor Speedway, Niki Jones Public Relations, Las Vegas Limousines and our driver Sean, Stout Creations-Nampa ID, Joe Maylish 600 Racing Las Vegas, Ken Ragan 600 Racing Charlotte NC, Nancy Padula Roush-Fenway Racing, Allison Marshall Business Manager for Kenny Wallace, American Speed Association (ASA) and Karen White Southern Nevada Make a Wish Foundation.
